I work with Windows Graphics Drivers for my bread n' butter. I don't have a previous experience of porting any firmware, but I bear decent knowledge of C, C++ and microcontroller programming. I was first reluctant to buy the camera for the same reason! Then after a long thought, I bought the camera just last week and really loving it!Ĭoming to back to ML: I am interested in helping to port Magic Lantern to 760D / T6s. After trying it on a friend's EOS M, I was speechless about how awesome ML really is! Hats off to all the devs!īut the camera of my choice was: brand new Canon EOS 760D / Rebel T6s.

The newest model, the Canon EOS 70D has not seen Magic Lantern yet. This is my first post on Magic Lantern forums! I am using CHDK since early 2009 on my PowerShot cameras and as I knew my next camera would be an EOS, Magic Lantern had to The Place to go. It seems like mostly the newer models can achieve the RAW functionality and the ones with CF card controllers are said to be faster as the SD controller is slower. – Canon EOS M – The little one can currently do 1280× fps. – Canon EOS 6D – Can currently do 1360×600 1840× fps, but apparently not continuosly. – Canon EOS 700D (T5i) – Can currently do 1280× fps. – Canon EOS 650D (T4i) – Does raw but not usable yet, framedrops, noise problems. > Sample Video shot on Sandisk Extreme Pro SD – Canon EOS 600D (T3i) – Some people can currently achieve 960×540. – Canon EOS 550D (T2i) – Can still only achieve 960×540 max. > Sample Video shot on Komputerbay 1000x card – Canon EOS 7D – Can continuosly shoot 1728× LINK – Canon EOS 60D – Apparently 960×540 1584× fps is currently the maximum. > Sample Video shot on Sandisk Extreme Pro 600x CF – Canon EOS 50D – Seen people achieve 1592×720 1584× fps.

– Canon EOS 5D mark II – Some people can currently achieve 1880× 1880× or 1600× fps.

Note: If you would like to install the RAW modules on your listed camera and have questions please consult the Magic Lantern forum as linked.įor the latest 5D mark III install guide please read here. The Transcend 1000x Cards are newer, reliable, priced in between, but some compatibility issues have been reported with some firmwares. The Lexar 1000x Cards are most expensive, but seem to work most reliable. If you receive a bad card send it back and get a new one. The Komputerbay 1000x cards are cheap, but they seem work most of the time.

Keep in mind that most of these don’t reach 1080p resolution (yet) and require a fast CF card to achieve the write speeds required. Just make sure you double-check your footage after shooting.Īnd here’s a list of all the cameras that can currently do RAW. For most filmmakers these issues, like pixel glitches, usability (requires learning) is something they gladly accept for the stunning footage they get in return. The RAW module used in these videos is in an Alpha stage which means that there are still stability and other issues which are being smoothed out. It’s an amazing development that is going forward extremely fast. For a real beating though I suggest you download the source video. For a camera that actually doesn’t shoot video at all that’s quite a braintwisting number. The creator used an anamorphic lens that squeezes the image which could later be desqueezed into a stunning 2560×960 pixel video. The video below shows a video recorded in 1280×960.

In May we learned that the outdated photo camera Canon EOS 50D was hacked as well (they’re even working on the 40D now) and turned into a movie making machine. Due to its fast card interface the Canon EOS 5D mark III is the most popular RAW shooting DSLR reaching resolutions of 1080p and beyond ( 5D3 RAW guide).īut other Canon DSLR’s can shoot RAW too! Even the non-video capable Canon EOS 50D released in 2008 is now a RAW monster. It is an interesting time for filmmakers since Magic Lantern enabled the RAW functionality for Canon DSLR’s.
